On March 21, the Conference on Quality Certification for Studying in China was held at Yifu Science Building,Lanzhou university. The conference aimed to implement China's Education Modernization 2035 and Standards for the Quality of Higher Education for Overseas Students in China. Lanzhou university seeks to achieve a good score in the quality certification of studying in China and continues to improve the quality of cultivating the international talents and service level of our university. Present at the meeting were the President of Lanzhou university Yan Chunhua, vice President Li Yumin, chief administrative officers and heads of relevant departments dealing with the international student s affairs, and all staff members of the school of International Cultural Exchange.

Yan Chunhua stated that all the work related to international students is one of the most fundamental tasks of all departments and it is also what we need to work on in the course of developing our university as double-first-class university. All the departments need to consider this meeting as an opportunity to self-inspect, overcome shortcomings, strengthen our weaknesses and seek for breakthrough. It is essential for us to clarify the relationships between "quantity and quality", "academic and non-academic students", "undergraduate and graduate students", "international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan", "characteristics and priorities", "School of International Cultural Exchange and other schools". All the departments should cooperate with each other so as to implement the connotation of international students affairs and promote the internationalization of our university to a higher level. In order to smoothly and perfectly accomplish this task, Yan Chunhua put forward three requirements: Firstly, The Heads of all departments should take the lead in setting up a quality certification working group and select a responsible staff as contact person. Secondly, school of International Cultural Exchange, International Student Affairs Department, the Academic Affairs Department and the Graduate School should take the initiative to cooperate and promote as a whole. Thirdly, School of International Cultural Exchange should do its utmost to cooperate with other departments to clarify the doubts and uncertainties related to the quality certification of studying in China. Fourth, the implementation of the work should be promoted in strict accordance with the certification schedule and standards.

In summary, Li Yumin stressed that the time of the quality certification work is tight and the task is urgent. The relevant departments and schools should be aware of the importance of the quality certification work. All departments should actively check the benchmark table, carefully prepare all the work, refine the objectives and tasks, and complete all the work in a quality and quantity manner. To conscientiously promote the standardized development of the work of quality certification and to improve the quality of cultivating the international talents, we should promote the system of evaluation and solve the problems we have met during the evaluation.

At the meeting, Zhang Wengang, Dean of International school of Cultural Exchange, and Liu Xiaoyan, the Vice-Dean, made special reports on the work related to the quality certification and the preparations of the preliminary stage. They also elaborated on the tasks of the relevant departments.
