The opening ceremony and freshmen association for international students of 2018 was held in the auditorium of the Student Activity Center of Chengguan Campus at 7 o’clock , October 12th. Pan Baotian, vice-president, Dagang, vice-director of Entry-Exit Administration Department of Lanzhou Public Security Bureau, the leaders and officers from relevant functional department of the of School of International Cultural Exchange, all the teachers of the School and foreign students attended the opening ceremony.

Vice president Pan Baotian delivered a speech at the ceremony. He introduced the development of the school and the achievements of international school-running. He also put forward several suggestions for the freshmen who came to China in 2018. First, they should set up ideals, pursue truth constantly and study professional knowledge diligently. Secondly, they should strictly abide by the laws and regulations of China, abide by the rules and regulations of the school and adapt to the school life as soon as possible. Thirdly, they should respect each other, learn from each other and grow together; the last is to actively experience Chinese culture, to understand China, at the same time , to introduce the culture of its own country to Lanzhou University, to be a good messenger for intercultural communication, and to play an important role in the construction of Belt and Road Initiative and a community with shared future for humanity. At length, he wished international students a happy and rewarding time at Lanzhou University.

     Zhang Wengang, dean of our school, introduced the basic information and explained the management, discipline and teaching management to the freshmen in detail. Finally, he sent a message to the freshmen that they should be self-disciplined and diligent. In the process of understanding, experiencing and learning Chinese, they should constantly broaden their horizon, improve themselves and lay a solid foundation for a successful life. Bai Mingzu, a policeman of Lanzhou Public Security Bureau, introduced several important matters during their stay in China.

       MOHGA ABDELGADIR HASSAN（Chinese name: Meng Ling）, a student from Sudan and KUVONCHBEK KURBANBAEV（Chinese name: Guan Zhi）, a Russian student, gave speeches respectively as the student representative and the new student representative. Headteacher appointment ceremony and outstanding annual awards to foreign students were also conducted during the opening ceremony.

       At the freshmen's party after the opening ceremony, students brought splendid performanceswhich were warmly welcomed and praised by the participating teachers and students.
